AND A COMMUNITY CENTER EMERGED!
Our Dream
(Then)
In 2005 an eight-room school building located at 8112 Scott in Kinloch, Missouri, documented as Missouri's largest and oldest all African American community, was acquired by the City of Kinloch. The Kinloch Community Development Association, ran by a local board would began to DREAM of a community center that would serve its neighborhood youth. The Center would house a Computer/Library Room, Multi-purpose Classroom, an Arts and Crafts Room, Music Game Room, Business Center and a Health & Fitness Room. These rooms represent the focus of activities we offer to community youth.
(Now)
In October, 2009 the Center relocated to 5650 Jones Street (formerly known as Smith School), just minutes away from our former location. Our new facility is larger, safer, brighter, and the physical plant is in better condition. The original concept of having theme rooms remain in .place. The new site allows for program expansion with the addition of a gym, a fibrary, and beautiful grounds for developing a gardening program.
Our Mission
To enhance the quality of life of the children in our community by establishing a learning center and securing the required resources to increase their chance of success, despite the current socio/economic conditions.
Our Vision
To see a community of young people rise above obstacles that challenge their day-to-day existence by hurdling over each with a God-given determination to maximize their potential.
